About Wagging Tails

A small salon built around the dogs who hate salons.

Wagging Tails Grooming opened in 2018 in a shop with room for exactly one bath and one table, and we have kept it that way on purpose. Most grooming salons run on volume, which means dogs waiting in crates, dryers pointed at them for an hour, and whichever groomer is free finishing what someone else started.

We took the other route. About 8 dogs a day, one groomer each, hand drying only. It costs us appointments and it is completely worth it, because the dogs who used to plant their feet at the door now walk in on their own.

Once a dog is booked with someone, they stay booked with them. Consistency does more for a nervous dog than any treat we could hand out.

Slow hands, quiet voice and no hurry at all. Imani runs the puppy first visits and the cats-only mornings, and has never once needed to raise her voice at either.

None of this is complicated. It is just slower, and slower is the whole point. If your dog has had a bad experience somewhere else, tell us at booking so we can plan around it.

Where our dogs come from

Ashgrove and the towns either side of it.

We are a walk-in-and-book shop, not a mobile van, so everything happens at 123 Main Street. Most of our regulars drive in from these towns. If yours is not listed, call anyway.

Saturday mornings are walk-in nail trims, no appointment needed. Everything else is booked ahead, usually a week or two out in spring and fall when the coats start moving.
